Crypto pioneer and self-proclaimed presidential candidate John McAfee has supposedly been arrested by the CIA or by order of another American government organization. McAfee has been avoiding the United States justice department for months after he didn’t file any taxes for years. In recent weeks has been mostly on international waters. One of McAfee’s friends reported that the former software-behemoth has now been arrested.

Where the arrest exactly took place, is not known. McAfee generally doesn’t communicate his location in order to avoid an arrest. On July 19th McAfee already stated that the CIA was trying to capture him. He has been at sea for multiple days, and — according to his tweets — his boat lost air conditioning and fresh water. He still has guns though…

McAfee has a network of friends around him that keep information and data safe. Rob Benedicto has access to McAfee’s Twitter account, but other people — and their identity is not known — have access to information. Earlier this year McAfee claimed that he installed a death man’s switch. When his network doesn’t hear anything from him in a certain number of days, a whole bunch of government secrets will be leaked online.

Whether that’s true or false, remains to be seen. Justin Sun having kidney stones instead of being held hostage by the Chinese government was the first letdown that the action-seeking crypto community had to overcome, let’s keep an eye on John McAfee’s account and see what will happen in the next 48 hours.
