A digital collectible car for the upcoming race game F1 Delta Time has been sold for 91,61 ETH, which is approximately $16.500. Eager investors or gamers did over fifty bids in an effort to buy the Japan-themed car in an auction. This was the fourth time Animoca Brands did an auction for the upcoming racing game F1 Delta Time. However, the selling price of this Japan Edition 2019 car was the lowest so far.

In July the developers of F1 Delta Time sold a digital collectible car for $25.000, while another collectible car was sold one month earlier for $33.200. The first auctioned collectible digital car is still the biggest one so far. The 1–1–1 sold for 415.9 ETH, which at that time equaled $110.743.

The owners of these auctioned cars can use them inside the racing game F1 Delta Time. Each of these cars have powerful stats. This Japan Edition 2019 performs extra good on the race track of Suzuka, Japan. Because these cars are on the blockchain, they can also be sold again.

The game is currently still in development by Animoca Brands. F1 Delta Time is a blockchain-based game which centers around the collection and trading of unique cars, drivers and components. All these exist as non-fungible tokens and can owned or traded by gamers. The game should release somewhere in the Spring of 2020.

Animoca Brands working on variety of games

Animoca Brands is one of the biggest names in the world of blockchain games. They are combining player ownership, digital assets, with major mainstream brands. The company has licenses for a variety of sports competitions, including Formula 1 and the recently announced MotoGP. On top of that they own German game studio Stryking, which just struck a deal with German Rekordmeiser and football powerhouse Bayern Munchen.

Animoca became a partner, publisher and distributor for Lucid Sight. This studio has the MLB license, and has created a blockchain-powered collectible game about baseball called MLB Champions. This game became the center of some negative attention recently. Another game from the same studio is Crypto Space Commander. For this space game there have been multiple Star Trek-themed auctions, which gathered over 135 thousand dollars.

Last year Animoca Brands got involved with Atari, and is now working on rebuilding Rollercoaster Tycoon Touch and Goon Squad, two existing mobile games, for use on the blockchain. This means gamers will be able to own virtual themepark rides and squad members, for example.

With 15 million dollars in yearly revenue, it’s difficult to name Animoca Brands a major player. But this company is putting its chess pieces into place to make its next major move. Acquisition of talented developers who already have a major user base and signing partnerships with major mainstream brands are key for bringing NFTs and blockchain games to a big audience.
