I’m pretty sure that message changed after April 1986. This blockchain technology is already seeing lots of implementations, and in a couple of years we’ll know whether it improved communication and data structures. Whether Bitcoin will replace money remains to be seen, but Lightning Network has the -potential- to improve the network and broaden its usage. Obviously there also needs to be reason for people to make the switch.

Governments are already moving into digital money, so they’ll have a better overview of money flows thanks to AML and KYC regulations and the open network it’s build on. On top of that banks are slowly making themselves less popular by introducing negative interest. These two developments could be reasons for people to start embracing cryptocurrencies, and bitcoin in particular.
