A very rare mystic creature from the blockchain game Axie Infinity has been sold for 12.467 dollars. An investor gave 70 ETH to obtain Axie #991, which is one of the three Axie creatures with four mystic body parts. This happened two days ago, and now the investor already put his bought game asset on sale for 400 ETH.

The seller bought the Axie nine months ago for 27 ETH. That would be around 3240 dollars. Calculated in dollars the seller made 384% profit on his January investment.

This wasn’t the most valuable exchange in the world of Axie Infinity. Seven months ago Axie #1733 was sold for 110 ETH, which was more than 15 thousand dollars at the moment. One month before that an Axie sold for a little under 11 thousand dollars, while a year ago an Axie changed owner for 10 thousand dollars. It might sound like a character in Axie Infinity costs a lot of money, but that’s not true. The average price of such a digital creature was $1.13 in October.

What is Axie Infinity?

Axie Infinity is a decentralized game build on the Ethereum blockchain. Players can buy cute little characters called Axies. An Axie can possess 6 out of hundreds of possible body parts. Each body part has their own battle move so the combinations for creating unique little battlers are infinite!

Gamers can create teams of Axies, and have them battle against each other. The creators of the game have also introduced land ownership, which can give battle benefits. In addition players have the option to breed Axies by getting two Axies together. They are now working on incorporating more gameplay mechanics into the game, including raid battles.

At the moment Axie Infinity has approximately 120 players per day. However, the game might soon see a major increase in its user base. The decentralized game is one of the partners of Samsung Mobile. It’s listed as a dApp in the Samsung Blockchain Wallet. Millions of people with a Samsung Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note 10 now have easy access to this game.
