Push for NEO adoption continues with 0xWarriors
The NEO Foundation is pushing for decentralized app development on their blockchain and 0xWarriors is the latest addition, as reported by Egamers.io. The blockchain-powered battle RPG was already on Ethereum, EOS and the Tron blockchain. The move onto the NEO blockchain was done with help from Arkane Network, who provide an easy way for new consumers to get access to decentralized apps.
Arkane Network is making an effort to offer software development kits and API solutions for developers. On top of that the Belgium-based company is offering Wallet-as-a-Service (WaaS). For example, they allow people to send crypto to an e-mail address. As a result they make it easier to get new consumers into crypto.
0xWarriors is an idle role playing game in which players pitch teams of five fighters against each other. Players can earn gear and weapons, sell and buy items, and compete in timed events. Alongside 0xWarriors more blockchain games are moving to NEO, including for example Blockchain Cuties, Blocklords and Vibe or Die.
NEO offers 100 million dollars for app development
In May 2019 the NEO Foundation announced a 100 million dollar fund to support and fund the development of decentralized apps and blockchain games. EcoBoost is the name of the initiative. The program has three different phases: the partner recruitment phase, followed by the eco project recruitment phase and finally the acceleration phase. All these phases are about connecting developers with each other, match products with potential partners and create media coverage.
One of the partners with the NEO EcoBoost progam is Arkane Network. The NEO platform benefits from the partnership, because it’s easier for developers. Blockchain game studio 0xGames is already working intensively with Arkane, adding support for NEO to 0xRacers and 0xWarriors. However, Arkane support currently eight different blockchains.
Decentralized apps a growing market
The market for decentralized applications is growing tremendously. The number of decentralized exchanges is growing, and so is their popularity. Poloniex recently bought TRX Market, while John McAfee launched his own decentralized exchange. On top of that blockchain foundations are putting serious financial incentives on the table to attract developers. Besides NEO, there’s the Tron Foundation for example. They have a special fund to attract game developers.
Investors have been keen on blockchain games for quite some time. Two months ago Australian game studio Immutable got a 15 million dollar investment to expand its online trading card game Gods Unchained. While earlier this month the team of Axie Infinity got a $1.5 million investment.
Investors clearly believe in the future of blockchain games. In addition the number of people using decentralized applications has been growing steadily. According to data from State of the Dapps the number of transactions from blockchain games has almost doubled compared with last year.
